THE COLORFUL WORLD OF PETER MIKIC

PETER MIKIC

From fashion catwalks to designing interiors, London-based Australian designer Peter Mikic has brought with him a special refined expertise that he translated into sophisticated interiors: the boldness he displays in using colorful settings and different textures expresses his multi-disciplinary experiences, that go beyond the usual ones for an interior designer.

London Home

With a background in fashion design that he developed at the RMIT University, Peter Mikic’s purpose was to go to London to really expand his knowledge of the fashion world with his menswear label Stonewood & Bryce: from 1995, for five years he lived and breathed that world until he discovered his true passion – decoration – that allowed him to break into interior design, thanks to a commission from property developers Nick and Christian Candy.

A personal conception of color and a particular attention to details are the foundation of the designer’s aesthetic, always capable of inserting his own specific vision in every project, from international residential projects to private jets to commercial ones and gyms. His signature style – far from classic tendencies – can express all the designer’s flamboyant possibilities, maintaining a sophisticated and luxurious balance in each room.

Peter Mikic’s interior design projects express his knowledge in absorbing an interior’s mood and enhancing it with harmonious color schemes and artful decorations, without missing the much-adored antique pieces that, now and then, the designer inserts in a room to provide a grounding effect.

In a London Home, the use of color brings an energetic twist to the interiors, creating a balanced support for the bespoke elements he himself created: each room reveals a sapient management of each specific features, increased by different hues or audacious textiles. Instead, Chucs Restaurant (Westbourne Grove) expresses all the charm of the 1950s Italian Riviera with Gio Ponti tiles and Slim Aarons photographs of mid-century jet-set life.
