Salone Satellite<\/strong><\/em><\/span>\u00a0is the international event in the\u00a0design world<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0dedicated to the under-35s. It was\u00a0the first event to focus on young designers, instantly becoming the unrivaled\u00a0place for interface with\u00a0manufacturers, talent scouts\u00a0<\/strong><\/em>and the most\u00a0promising young designers<\/strong><\/em>, and since 1998 runs again concurrently with the\u00a0Salone del Mobile.Milano<\/strong><\/em>.<\/p>\n

Today, we have decided to show you everything that you are missing at this amazing design event. Take a look:<\/p>\n

This year, the\u00a010th edition<\/em>\u00a0<\/strong>of the\u00a0Salone Satellite Award competition<\/em>\u00a0<\/strong>took place.\u00a0The\u00a0Award\u00a0was assigned by an\u00a0international jury of leading figures from the\u00a0design world<\/em><\/strong>\u2013 designers Davide Groppi, Luca Nichetto\u00a0and\u00a0Eugeni Quitllet; journalists Silvia Nani\u00a0(Corriere Della Sera) and\u00a0Ellen Froissart (Associate Editor, Bee Medias publishing group);\u00a0Giuliano Mosconi<\/em><\/strong>,<\/em>\u00a0President and CEO of Tecno\/Zanotta;\u00a0Stefano Seletti<\/em>,\u00a0<\/strong>Creative Director, Seletti and Marc Zehntner, Director, Vitra Design Museum \u2013 chaired as of the very first edition by\u00a0Paola Antonelli\u00a0(Senior Curator of the Department of Architecture and Design at MoMA and curator of the\u00a0XXII Triennale di Milano<\/strong><\/em>) \u2013 which has selected the\u00a0top 3 products.<\/p>\n

The first prize of\u00a0SaloneSatellite Award<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0was awarded to\u00a0KuliI-Kuli (Japan)<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0<\/strong>for his\u00a0Kobe Leather<\/strong><\/em>, a\u00a0<\/strong>collection of new products realized with Kobe cowhide, not traditionally used. The second prize went to\u00a0Studio Philipp Hainke (Germany)<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0for the\u00a0Halo\u00a0<\/strong><\/em>chair made from hemp and casein.\u00a0Baku Sakashita (Japan<\/strong>)<\/em>\u00a0came in third for the\u00a0<\/em>2.5 Dimensional Objects<\/em>\u00a0<\/strong>made from 3D wire structures that look like 2D black lines drawn on flat paper.<\/p>\n

\"2.5<\/a><\/p>\n

This edition has featured two new\u00a0Rong Design Library Awards<\/em><\/strong>; the idea for the library came from Zhang Lei, Jovana Zhang and Christoph John (winner of the 13th\u00a0SaloneSatellite Design Report Award<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0in 2012 with the PINWU Design studio) in collaboration with the government of Yuhang district\u00a0<\/strong>in Hangzhou, for the purposes of studying traditional Chinese craft materials and craftsmanship.\u00a0Rong Design Library<\/em>\u00a0<\/strong>is offering two\u00a0Residency Programmes<\/em>\u00a0<\/strong>that take place in the local village. Each programme will last for one month: and includes a budget of\u00a010.000 RMB<\/em>\u00a0<\/strong>for each designer, plus workspace, assistant and accommodation. During this period the winning designers will be introduced to traditional Chinese culture and, thus inspired, will be free to complete a project of their own choice.<\/p>\n

\"nebula<\/a><\/p>\n

The winners are\u00a0Koko (Croatia)<\/em>\u00a0<\/strong>for\u00a0Koko Loko<\/em>,<\/strong>\u00a0a project for kids in which every Loko is a combination of eight elements, and\u00a0Studiomirei (Italy)<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0for\u00a0<\/strong>the\u00a0<\/strong>banana fiber\u00a0Nebula Lamp<\/em>\u00a0<\/strong>which resembles interstellar clouds of dust in space. As of the 2017 edition,\u00a0Banca<\/strong>\u00a0Intesa Sanpaolo<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0has awarded a special prize to the value of\u00a05,000 euros<\/strong><\/em>. This year it has been assigned to the emerging designer who, in the opinion of the jury, best captures the theme of the 2019 event, \u201cFood as a Design Object\u201d:\u00a0Melbourne Movement \/ Kristen Wang (Australia)<\/em>\u00a0<\/strong>for the\u00a0Re. Bean Coffee Stool<\/em>\u00a0<\/strong>made from locally collected coffee grounds.<\/p>\n
