As the “Golden Couple” of Italian Design, Ludovica + Roberto Palomba represents one of the most distinctive voices in the international panorama, a singular vision that the Italian duo has been expressing for twenty-five years through their design firm “Palomba Serafini Associati”.

The philosophical approach, on which most of their projects are based, aims for an empathetic relationship with design objects: a contemporary rendition of products that profess an inherent balance between functionality and innovation, contemplating a complete disregard for any temporary trends.
Both architects and designers, Ludovica + Roberto Palomba opened their company – dealing in architecture, interior and industrial design, exhibit design, graphic design, art direction, communication, and marketing consulting – in 1994 and they have always been really invested in the design field, even the academical one: since 2003 Roberto Palomba has been a professor in the industrial design department at the Polytechnic of Milan and has participated at numerous workshops as a visiting professor.
Not only they are famous for their own projects, but also Ludovica + Roberto Palomba are renowned for being the art directors for Ceramica Sant’Agostino, Elmar, Kos, Zucchetti and also developing projects for Tubes and Zucchetti, among the others. Their projects rely on the complementary visions of the two designers, where the more imaginative angle – pursued by Ludovica – is well amalgamated by Roberto’s pragmatic side. The results are works that delve deeply into the cultural roots of our society trying, at the same time, to respond to the needs of human behavior and the products’ requirements of long-lasting longevity.

A constant research and an innovative sight are the common ingredients of their most famous projects and collaborations, most of which have made them win international awards such as Compasso D’Oro, Elle Decoration International Design Award, Red Dot, Design Plus, Good Design Award, and German Design Award.
Ludovica + Roberto Palomba’s Private House – Lecce IT
Ludovica + Roberto Palomba’s aesthetic doesn’t exude a sterile perception of design but is a screen through which visual emotions and materiality play together: their contemporary style isn’t a cold rendition of a minimalistic approach but a layering of ideas and moods, in which each layer has been constructed as independent and full of meaning; its interaction with the other elements is the key to discover the bigger meaning behind the work that the designers have woven.
The historical resonance is the basis of every Ludovica + Roberto Palomba’s work, an interlacing of threads and cultural motifs that the designers try to explain and profess through their eyes. Like the Palazzo Daniele renovation project – one of their last works – in which the minimalistic vision has had the function of stripping the building of useless decorations to bring it back to its 19-century splendor: the original frescos and flooring are only emphasized by the Palazzo’s art installations.
