Ben Pentreath’s architectural and interior design studio has established a powerful reputation across a variety of disciplines. From master-planning and urban development to private houses and playful interiors, their small team works to create the best – whatever the scale, size, scope, and budget of a project. Above all, they love designing places that work beautifully for the long term and feel right for the place.
Ben Pentreath’s decoration office is small but is renowned for creating a distinctive and playful style – that draws inspiration in equal measure from the great English practitioners of the 1960s and 70s, and from historical interiors of every period, but all infused with a fresh modern sensibility.
He combines a strong use of color, pattern, and classical detail with bold contemporary fabric and furniture: ensuring that the room is just right – both for the client and for the building.
Ben Pentreath’s book English Decoration, published in 2011, established his growing reputation as an author and he is a regular contributor to the Financial Times and other journals. In 2016, was published a sequel interiors book, English Houses. His new book, An English Vision, a monograph of the work of the practice, will be published by Rizzoli New York in 2021.
