Nothing is more characteristic than Bavaria’s capital, Munich. “The city of beer and art” already the description reflects the several layers behind its description. Renowned all over the world for its alcoholic beverage and its artistic treasures, its proximity to the Alps has generated a lively hub, so full of richness and vitality (we can’t avoid talking about its value as an innovative center in science, technology, and engineer). So, it is not a surprise if in 2018 Munich has been rated among the first places in the world’s most livable cities. Surely, many luxuries that city can offer have concurred to establishing the good name of Munich in the world and, among many, we can name the Charles Hotel, a contemporary oasis in the mountains and a symbolic place for all the city’ visitors. INSIDE CHARLES HOTEL

Charles Hotel

As a family-run business, Charles Hotel knows how to instill the true Bavarian spirit while conceding every possible comfort to its guests: it took its name from hotelier Charles Forte, father of Sir Rocco, now at the head of the family with his sister Olga and his three children. The Anglo-Italian roots of the family have been inspirational to recreate an international atmosphere, that merges so well with the Bavarian style. Comfortable luxury and tailored amenities are the main attractions of the hotel.

Located in on Sophienstrasse, a few minutes’ walk from the Königsplatz and near the Lenbachhaus and Maximilianstraße’s chic boutiques, the vivacious and artistic environment has been a huge influence (after all it was built on the site of a former university library): this artistic influence can be admired through the personal interpretation of Olga Polizzi and her revisiting of Bavarian Arts, the decorating ceramics and the calming effect of light green and cream of the botanical design, which created a fil rouge through the whole hotel and the Old Botanical Garden.

Since it opened in 2007, the intimate setting only included 136 rooms and 24 suites, but enough to provide an excellent service (we can’t forget to nominate the luxurious pool, the “longest of its kind in Munich”!). The suites bear the individual style of Olga with the added touch of having prime views on the entire city.

If relaxation is what you are looking for the sumptuous spa is the perfect place for you to unwind with the signature treatments Rocco Forte Rituals while the Sophia’s Restaurant & Bar offers a comprehensive treatment with regional seasonal produce: the restaurant’s botanic theme generates a relaxing setting while the terrace offers, instead, the possibility of dining in front of the entire Munich. But, if you are searching for a fashionable setting, the cocktail bar and its contemporary style with a Moroccan attitude have become the focal point of the city’s jet set: the recreation of traditional cocktails – with homemade essence and powdered liquors – are the common choices (but don’t forget to ask for the exclusive products grown at their Sicilian resort!).
