MARK CUNNINGHAM: A COMFORTABLE LOOK ON SOPHISTICATION
Having made the ELLE DÉCOR A-LIST 2019 and the AD100 list, interior designer Mark Cunningham has become one of the big names in the design field, with his big projects and fancy yet functional interiors. His signature style is emphasized by a comfortable approach that reveals the designer’s capabilities of mixing the right dose of sophistication and comfort, a decorator in possession of real design mastery.
Martha’s Vineyard, MA
Well known for his residential projects, hospitality and commercial concepts, and architectural consulting, Mark Cunningham first worked in retail as vice president of creative services for Ralph Lauren for over a decade before founding in 2005 his own interior design firm – Mark Cunningham Inc.– in New York.
Often, what draws clients to choose the American designer for their own projects is his refined taste and expert touch that let his creations be glamorous and functional, without being flashy or ostentatious: the resulting outcomes are interiors that really reflect the clientele’s vision and needs, thanks to a creative process in which every detail and accessory have been selected with special care.
Since Mark Cunningham’s first project more than 10 years ago – the decoration of an apartment in a pre-war building in the Upper East Side in front of Central Park – his intuitive modus operandi and sensibilities has let his fan base grow year after year, with always more clients and referrals coming his way.
The designer’s newly opened by-appointment showroom “Marked” in New York has the purpose of bringing the Mark Cunningham brand to the open, through a collection of furniture and fabrics: bespoke collections – later utilized in his own interior projects – will be featured in the showroom, with season-changing palettes and themes.
“I think our spaces are comfortable, warm, and functional, with a clean look and feel. We take great care with the details, without being too elaborate or overdone.”
